Project Info

Project Name: Villa N

Location: Värmdö, Sweden

Architects: Matteo Foresti

Manufacturers: VOLA, Flos, Carl Hansen & Søn

Villa N is a minimalist cliffside home defined by a bold rectangular form and dramatic overhang. Centered on an open-plan social space with expansive glazing, it seamlessly connects interior and exterior. A wraparound terrace enhances this dialogue with nature, offering panoramic views while preserving the rugged landscape.

Set on a triangular plot embraced by rocky hills and mature trees, Villa N balances bold architectural gestures with a quiet respect for its natural site. Positioned dramatically on a cliff, the house avoids altering the rugged topography, instead anchoring itself in an abstract, rectangular volume that projects outward. Its striking overhang creates a sense of suspension above the terrain, giving the residence a sculptural presence while preserving the land beneath it.

At the heart of Villa N lies an expansive, open-plan social space that serves as the core of the home. Along a central axis, the kitchen island, dining table, and living area align seamlessly, encouraging connection and interaction while establishing a natural rhythm between daily rituals. This clarity of arrangement allows the space to feel both generous and intimate.

Interiors that breathe with space and light

Floor-to-ceiling glazing blurs the line between indoors and outdoors, transforming nature into a living backdrop for the interior. Sunlight floods the rooms, while panoramic views of the surrounding cliffs, trees, and hills shift with the time of day and season.

A wraparound terrace further extends the experience of Villa N, providing space for outdoor living while amplifying its dramatic cliffside position. From here, residents can entertain, unwind, or simply immerse themselves in the vast landscape - a continuous dialogue between architecture and environment.

Minimalist in form yet rich in atmosphere, Villa N is a study in balance: between openness and shelter, boldness and subtlety, landscape and structure. It is not just a house on a cliff, but an architectural gesture that honors its site by letting nature take the lead.
