Rising within the mixed-use Royal Da Nang development in Hai Chau District, TUI BLUE Han River introduces a refined hospitality experience shaped by both local history and contemporary design thinking. Designed by Dewan Architects + Engineers, the 29-storey tower interprets Da Nang’s layered cultural narratives through a carefully structured interior concept titled “Royal Voyage”.
Rather than relying on decorative motifs, the concept translates the region’s heritage into spatial language. Influences from Hue, Hoi An, and Champa are subtly expressed through pattern development, partition compositions and material transitions. A restrained palette of metal, wood, mosaic, clay and leather establishes a cohesive visual identity that flows seamlessly from public spaces to guestrooms.

The project’s most defining gesture lies in its vertical organization. Instead of a conventional ground-level arrival, the Sky Lobby on Level 22 becomes the primary entry point, elevating the guest’s first encounter with the hotel. From this height, sweeping views of the Han River and the city skyline frame the arrival experience, while rooftop amenities such as the swimming pool and bar extend the sense of openness above the dense urban fabric of Da Nang.

Within the compact high-rise footprint, the program integrates a full range of hospitality facilities including an all-day dining restaurant, spa, gym, kids club and meeting rooms. Guest accommodations range from Deluxe rooms to Presidential suites, each designed to balance sleeping, working and relaxation areas within clearly defined layouts. Consistent detailing across corridors and guestrooms reinforces the spatial continuity established throughout the tower.

A key challenge of the project was the coexistence of residential and hotel functions within a single structure. Lower floors accommodate residential units while hospitality programs occupy the upper levels, requiring precise zoning and carefully separated circulation systems. During later stages of development, interior design assumed a coordinating role to ensure alignment between brand standards, technical execution and spatial clarity.
Innovation in the project emerges through this integrated approach to vertical hospitality. The “Royal Voyage” narrative unfolds through lantern-inspired elements, layered partitions and subtle material shifts that guide movement across different zones. Cultural references appear through proportion, texture and craft rather than literal symbolism, allowing the design to remain contemporary while grounded in place.
