Tucked within the dense, fast-moving fabric of Ho Chi Minh City, Bánh Mật House offers a gentle yet radical counterpoint to urban life. Designed by architect Lê Tiến Anh and realized by SPACE DESIGN ARCHGROUP Company (SDAG), the home was born from a simple but powerful desire: to live in close harmony with nature without leaving the city behind. Conceived as a dwelling for a family of four and equally as a habitat for plants, insects, and small creatures, the project embodies a quiet vision of coexistence between humans and the natural world.

From the outset, the house was imagined as a green refuge, a place where daily life unfolds alongside water, foliage, light, and air. Rather than treating nature as a decorative afterthought, Bánh Mật House places it at the very core of the architectural experience. This philosophy informs every decision, from spatial organization and material selection to the way occupants move through and inhabit the home.

A defining gesture of the project is its bold allocation of space: 70% of the ground floor is dedicated to gardens and a central water courtyard. In a city where land is precious and density is the norm, this choice immediately sets the house apart. The landscape and water features act as a natural cooling system, improving the microclimate, reducing heat radiation, and enhancing cross-ventilation and daylight penetration. More than an environmental strategy, this green heart becomes a social and emotional anchor for the family’s everyday life.

Here, moments unfold slowly and organically. Children swim and watch movies by the pond; adults sit on stone steps, sharing conversations or quietly observing sunlight filtering through leaves.
